Wicked Intentions, the first book in my new Maiden Lane series, is out this month. It’s received another wonderful review, this time from Coffee Time Romance:
“What a fantastic novel Wicked Intentions is! I have always enjoyed reading Ms. Hoyt’s work and this is no different. The contradicting way that Temperance is in her mannerism shows the daily struggle she has with what she considers a passion that she must hold back. Add the mysterious sensual background of Caire and this story will get you turning pages as fast as you can. On top of that, the heartbreaking story of Temperance’s sister makes you hope to see her in a future story and soon.”
And I have a few updates to my site:
I’ve posted a sneak peek of my next book, Notorious Pleasures.
The Makepeace Family Tree is up.
Eileen Dreyer’s Barely A Lady is my book of the month
And finally I’ve got a new website contest up this month: a chance to win all four of the Legend of the Four Soldiers books and a gift card to Barnes and Noble.
Enjoy!

I’m in the midst of packing for Romance Writers of America’s annual conference next week. This year it’ll be in Orlando at the Swan and Dolphin hotels in Disney World. Every year a great part of the conference is a ginormous booksigning that is open to the public. You can find a list of authors signing here. If you live in the Orlando area you don’t want to miss this event!

Finally, Wicked Intentions has received a quite lovely review from John Charles at Booklist:
“It is an offer Temperance Dews can’t afford to turn down. Ever since they lost their last patron, Temperance and her brother Winter have struggled to keep open the foundling home their family runs. So when Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, arrives one evening with a proposition, Temperance finds herself inviting the notorious nobleman in for tea rather than showing him the door. Lazarus needs to find someone in St. Giles, and he believes Temperance can help him because the foundling home is located in a crime-riddled London neighborhood, and she knows nearly everyone. In exchange, Lazarus will give her the temporary funds she needs, and introduce her to the wealthiest members of society. It was a simple business transaction, but Temperance and Lazarus quickly find themselves distracted by his and her new “partner.” With a dash of sharp wit; a rare literary flair for creating complex, compelling characters; and lively writing that packs a powerful emotional punch, Hoyt delivers the first sensually charged, danger- infused installment in a new Georgian-set series.”

I spent last weekend putting together four raised vegetable beds made from cedar wood, although I’ve only filled one so far with soil. We planted tomatoes–yellow pear and brandywine–and carrots and multi-colored swiss chard. And then it rained the rest of the weekend and early this week and the entire backyard flooded! I’m so glad I decided on raised beds.
There’s only a little over a month left until the release of Wicked Intentions, the first book in my Maiden Lane series. I’ve posted the video for Wicked Intentions, along with a new research article, St. Giles and the Gin Craze on the Extras page. I’m giving away my very last arc of Wicked Intentions in my website contest along with a gift card for Barnes and Noble bookstores. Finally, for a limited time only I’ll be giving away a free first chapter excerpt booklet for Wicked Intentions–simply go to my contact page and order one.
Enjoy!

Woot! I’m happy to report that I turned in the first draft of Notorious Pleasures last week. I’ll have a week or two to get caught up in my garden (where have all those weeds come from?) before I get revision notes from my editor and I’ll go back to writing.
Meanwhile, I have a few website updates: There’s a new Turkish page for my Turkish readers. Non-Turkish readers can check out the lovely cover of The Raven Prince Turkish edition! Speaking of which, I’ve updated the French page with all the covers to date–beautiful! The book of the month is Jennifer Haymore’s A Hint of Wicked.
Finally, Brenda Novak’s annual online auction to benefit diabetes research is going on now until the end of May. I have three items up for sale: an advance readers copy of Wicked Intentions; a basket of goodies, including all my books, assorted teas, and British biscuits; and for writers, I’m hosting a brunch for three at RWA nationals in Orlando–I’m thinking mimosas will have to be on the menu!

Just this week the temperatures in my part of the Midwest suddenly soared into the sixties and even hit seventy at one point. My snowdrops were already showing, waiting patiently for the snow to melt, but the lavender species crocus (Crocus tommasinianus) popped up overnight it seemed. I’ve got a shade garden by the side of the house where I planted several hundred a couple of years ago and now it looks like a lavender carpet. The “Tommies” must be happy because I’ve noticed single volunteers peeking out of the grass here and there. Now if only the squirrels don’t eat the blooms!
In other news, my publisher, Grand Central Publishing, will be re-releasing the entire Prince trilogy this summer to coincide with the release of Wicked Intentions. They’ve also giving The Raven Prince, The Leopard Prince, and The Serpent Prince brand new covers which I’ve posted on their respective pages. Mouse over the new covers to see the original covers.

Max, our biggest Untrained Dog, met me at the door this afternoon, proudly wearing the remains of yet another broken tie-out lead on his collar. Sigh. We do keep getting him the strongest tie-outs we can find and yet he manages to break the one he has every couple of months. I bought him a new one today, “guaranteed” to hold a up to a 125 pound dog (Max is around 80 pounds.) Poor Rue! When I hook the tie out to her it’s like Marley’s ghost in A CHRISTMAS CAROL: drag…THUMP…drag…THUMP…
The monthly updates for my website are up early! Pride of place goes to the new Wicked Intentions page. You can mouse over the cover to view the beautiful stepback, read the excerpt, and pre-order on Amazon. I don’t have bookmarks yet for Wicked Intentions, but they should be coming in by the end of March or so.
What else? I have a new Book of the Month up on the Extras page, and a new website contest featuring books by Laura Kinsale and Margaret Mallory. Enter for a chance to win all three!

Our big snow is melting away bit by bit which makes walking the dogs easier–for me, at least. The dogs don’t care if they have to hop through snow to go on their morning walk. Rue in particular seems to enjoy sticking her entire head in fresh snow to see what’s under there. I took a peek out front, but so far no signs of early snowdrops. In another couple of weeks, perhaps?
I’ve added a new feature to the Extras page–Book of the Month. I’m often asked for my favorite books, what I’m reading now, or for book recommendations. I was also asked to “blurb” several books in 2009 and I thought I’d share some of these and other books I’ve enjoyed recently. January’s Book of the Month is Courtney Milan’s fabulous debut, Proof by Seduction.
I’ve also updated the individual book pages with a “Book Extras” box that lists all the extras for that book on my website. I hope you enjoy!

A very Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope the new year will bring peace, prosperity, and plenty of reading pleasures.
I’m beginning a new book with the new year–Notorious Pleasures is the second book in the Maiden Lane series and involves the daughter of a duke who has found the perfect man to marry…and then falls for his less than perfect brother. We don’t have a release date for Notorious Pleasures yet (sometime in early 2011 most probably) but the first book in the series, Wicked Intentions, will be out this year in August.
And where exactly is the Wicked Intentions page?! Well, I’m waiting on the book cover to put it up. Hopefully by February!
Finally, the final chapter–and epilogue–of my free novella, The Ice Princess is up!
I hope you enjoy.

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
I’ve just handed in what I’m hoping is the final revision on my next book, Wicked Intentions, which will be out in August 2010. If you read the excerpt at the back of To Desire a Devil, you’ve already had a taste of Temperance and Lord Caire’s story. Wicked Intentions is the first book in my new Maiden Lane series and I’ve already started work on the second book (tentatively!) titled Notorious Pleasures. I’m hoping that we’ll soon have a cover so I can put up a page for Wicked Intentions with the excerpt and other info. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, I’ve posted Chapter 11 of The Ice Princess! This is the second to last chapter–I’ll be finishing up The Ice Princess in December.
I’ve posted a new Real Dog page for Rue, our newest Untrained Dog on the Extras page.
And finally, I have a new website contest up featuring three of Carolyn Jewel’s books.
Enjoy!
