Orlando Booksigning

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

I’m in the midst of packing for Romance Writers of America’s annual conference next week. This year it’ll be in Orlando at the Swan and Dolphin hotels in Disney World. Every year a great part of the conference is a ginormous booksigning that is open to the public. You can find a list of authors signing here. If you live in the Orlando area you don’t want to miss this event!

Finally, Wicked Intentions has received a quite lovely review from John Charles at Booklist:

“It is an offer Temperance Dews can’t afford to turn down. Ever since they lost their last patron, Temperance and her brother Winter have struggled to keep open the foundling home their family runs. So when Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, arrives one evening with a proposition, Temperance finds herself inviting the notorious nobleman in for tea rather than showing him the door. Lazarus needs to find someone in St. Giles, and he believes Temperance can help him because the foundling home is located in a crime-riddled London neighborhood, and she knows nearly everyone. In exchange, Lazarus will give her the temporary funds she needs, and introduce her to the wealthiest members of society. It was a simple business transaction, but Temperance and Lazarus quickly find themselves distracted by his and her new “partner.” With a dash of sharp wit; a rare literary flair for creating complex, compelling characters; and lively writing that packs a powerful emotional punch, Hoyt delivers the first sensually charged, danger- infused installment in a new Georgian-set series.”

Wicked Intentions got a wonderful review from Romantic Times Book Reviews:

4 1/2 stars. Top Pick!
“Hoyt uses her gift for reimagining classic fairy tale themes to create a magnificently rendered story that not only enchants but enthralls. With its mesmerizing plot and unforgettable characters, WICKED INTENTIONS will make readers eager for the next Maiden Lane novel.”

This weekend I’m in Denver for the very first RomCon. If you live in the area and haven’t had a chance to register for the conference, they will be letting people register at the door. If you are attending, please do stop by to say hi!

Happy Dance Reviews

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I received two lovely reviews in the last two days. The first is from Publishers Weekly:

Starred Review!
“Bestseller Hoyt (To Desire a Devil) brings steamy sensuality to the slums of early 18th-century London in this engaging series launch. Demure widow Temperance Dews desperately needs funding for her orphanage. Lazarus Huntington, the famously debauched Lord Caire, needs to find out who murdered one of his mistresses. Lazarus offers Temperance an interesting bargain: if she will be his guide in the grimy neighborhood of St. Giles, he will pay the rent she owes and introduce her to more respectable nobility who might serve as patrons. Dire circumstances force the pair into intimate situations as they discover each other’s deepest secrets, and Temperance reveals the passion hidden beneath her puritanical dress. Readers will enjoy the unusual pairing of an aristocratic man and a poor but educated widow, enhanced by earthy, richly detailed characterizations and deft historical touches.”

The second from Romantic Times Book Reviews:

4 1/2 Stars, TOP PICK!
“Hoyt uses her gift for reimagining classic fairy tale themes to create a magnificently rendered story that not only enchants but enthralls. With its mesmerizing plot and unforgettable characters, WICKED INTENTIONS will make readers eager for the next Maiden Lane novel.”

A lovely new look for the website!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

The daffodils are up in my garden. Along the side of the house are big yellow Camelots, in front is a clump of white daffodils with bright orange cups—I’ve forgotten the name. And in the hosta garden my favorite daffodils are just coming into bud: snow white Thalias with their petals that curve backwards.

This month I’m excited to debut a new look for my website, courtesy of the creative talents of Vibeke Courtney of DreamForge Media. I hope you’ll take a moment and look around.

To Beguile a Beast is in stores now! The third book my Legend of the Four Soldiers series, To Beguile a Beast features hero Sir Alistair Munroe, scarred from the war in the Americas and living in a dusty old castle. One night he opens the door to find a beauty on his step, claiming to be his new housekeeper. Romantic Times BOOKreviews magazine gave To Beguile a Beast a Top Pick review and said:

“The third legend in the Four Soldiers quartet is a magical love story that reads like a mystical fable and a very real and highly passionate romance. Hoyt has found a unique niche that highlights both her storytelling abilities and her considerable talents for depth of character and emotion.”

I hope you enjoy To Beguile a Beast!

Finally, I’m very happy to announce that To Seduce a Sinner has finaled in Romance Writers of America’s RITA contest! Huzzah!
