I made a batch of applesauce yesterday from some lovely Ozark Gold apples. This is a autumn tradition in the Hoyt Household–picking apples at the local orchard, and making applesauce and apple pie. Mr. Hoyt does love the autumn!
I have some updates to the website!
First up, my novella, The Ice Princess has been released in ebook form! The heroine of The Ice Princess is Coral Smythe, who you may remember from The Raven Prince where she played a small part as the madam of Aphrodite’s Grotto. You can find an excerpt from The Raven Prince that features Coral as well as the first chapter excerpt of The Ice Princess and links to buy the ebook on The Ice Princess page.
While The Ice Princess is available only in ebook form at the moment, we do hope to publish it in a paper anthology soon!
I’ve posted the first scene excerpt of Notorious Pleasures, my February 2011 book featuring Lady Hero.
I have a new Book of the Month–Lila DiPasqua’s Awakened by a Kiss.
And finally, reader Rane Aria sent me some lovely original fan art for Wicked Intentions.
Enjoy!

A very Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope the new year will bring peace, prosperity, and plenty of reading pleasures.
I’m beginning a new book with the new year–Notorious Pleasures is the second book in the Maiden Lane series and involves the daughter of a duke who has found the perfect man to marry…and then falls for his less than perfect brother. We don’t have a release date for Notorious Pleasures yet (sometime in early 2011 most probably) but the first book in the series, Wicked Intentions, will be out this year in August.
And where exactly is the Wicked Intentions page?! Well, I’m waiting on the book cover to put it up. Hopefully by February!
Finally, the final chapter–and epilogue–of my free novella, The Ice Princess is up!
I hope you enjoy.

It’s a lovely if chilly day here in central Illinois! The sugar maple in our side yard has turned a gorgeous orangy-yellow. I hope to get into the garden and do some fall clean up today, but for now I’m stuck inside doing final revisions on Wicked Intentions, my next book. I hope you, however, can take a minute to read Chapter 10 of The Ice Princess.
And don’t forget that To Desire a Devil officially hits the shelves on October 27th!

So, in a fit of enthusiasm I ordered over a thousand flower bulbs. True, 400 of those bulbs are species crocus (C. tommasinianus–they come up very early in the spring, appearing like pretty little lavender fairies…that is until the squirrels bite their heads off. I’m trying not to think of the squirrels whilst planting) but that still leaves quite a lot of other bulbs, mainly daffodils. My weekends are booked through November. Also, it’s probably a good thing that Mr. Hoyt never sees my flower bulb bill.
Chapter 9 of The Ice Princess is up. Yes, it is the last day of the month, but let us all keep in mind that technically it is still September and thus this month’s chapter is *ahem* not late. A little long in coming, I will admit, but not late.
And finally, I have a new and spectacular website contest in anticipation of the November release of To Desire a Devil–the prize is a one hundred dollar gift card to Borders Book Store and a box of Godiva chocolates.
Good luck!

We are making improvements to Hoyt Manor this summer. The old rotting front porch has been torn down and a new shiny one built in its place. I have no doubt that in time Hoyt Manor will look quite resplendent, but at the moment I have to confess to feeling some trepidation over the painting job–or lack thereof–of the workers. There seems to be quite a lot of messy drips about.
Meanwhile, I was quite excited to see the first tomato ripen in my garden–that is until Mr. Hoyt muttered something about bunnies. Apparently, this was not my first tomato of the year, it was simply the first I’d seen before the savage bunnies had torn it from the vine, taken one bite from it, thrown it to the side, and hopped away laughing maniacally. That was Mr. Hoyt’s version of events anyway. Mr. Hoyt has taken to picking the tomatoes green and bringing them inside to ripen on a windowsill, which seems to take the point out of “vine ripened.”
Finally, I have posted Chapter 8 of The Ice Princess as promised. It is, again, an adults-only chapter, so do be warned. Enjoy!

I’m back home after two weeks in beautiful D.C., first at the RWA national conference and then spending some time in our nation’s capital. I had a wonderful time at the National Art Gallery, dragging my Offspring to see Rembrandts and Vermeers and lecturing them about Boobies Through History. (They were suitably embarrassed.)
The Untrained Dogs had a vacation of their own (although they may not have seen it that way) at their doggie kennel. I think they’re glad to be home, though, and back to their ultra-soft dog beds.
Chapter 7 of The Ice Princess is up, but be warned: this chapter is for adult eyes only! Please do not read this chapter if you are under eighteen years of age.
I’ve posted the third scene excerpt of Chapter 1 from To Desire a Devil. This scene was not included in the excerpt at the back of To Beguile a Beast. I hope you enjoy it!
And I’m giving away my very last arc (advance reader copy) of To Desire a Devil in my website contest. Enter now for a chance to be the first of your friends to read To Desire a Devil!

The thunderstorms have been almost constant here in the Midwest, making for a very wet June. The good news, though, is that my garden is very lush from all the rain!
I’m pleased to announce that To Taste Temptation has won the Desert Rose Golden Quill Award.
Website updates for June have been made, the main ones being that Chapter 6 of The Ice Princess is up. I’ve also got new bookmarks for To Desire a Devil, and the second scene excerpt for To Desire a Devil is up as well. As always bookmarks and bookplates are free, so be sure and order as many as you’d like.
There’s still time to enter my May/June website contest–the prize is a complete Princes trilogy!
The Romance Writers of America national conference is coming up soon–this year it will be in Washington D.C. Part of the conference is a massive romance author signing on Wednesday, July 15th from 5:30-7:30 pm. This signing is open to the public–you don’t have to be registered at the conference–and will include more than 500 romance authors this year. All proceeds from the signing go to local literacy charities. If you live in the D.C. area, this is a signing you won’t want to miss–and if you do come, make sure and stop by and say hello to me!
Finally, my publisher, Hachette Book Group USA, is offering The Leopard Prince to read online for free!

My garden is simply delightful right now. True, it’s still full of weeds (mostly wild violets and Star of Bethlehem) but the mosquitoes haven’t yet hit and the evenings are just right–not too hot, not too cold. My shade garden (under a big old maple tree) has white short-spurred columbine and Spanish bluebells blooming amongst the unfurling hostas. I did see the wicked bunny by my tiny veggie garden, but hadn’t the heart to scare her away. Mr. Hoyt (who grew up on a farm) said it’ll be my own fault if we have no tomatoes this summer!
Website updates for May are done! Here’s what you might want to check out:
Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone writing me with news of where they found To Beguile a Beast! It’s always so wonderful to hear as the books hit the shelves.
In all the excitement about the new web design and new book, I clean forgot to mention that Chapter 4 of The Ice Princess is up! Do go and take a look.
This last weekend I spent a lovely few days in Orlando, Florida at the Romantic Times BOOKreview Convention. I got to meet many readers, lounge by the pool with author friends, and watch the little gecko lizards dart in and out of the underbrush. Everything is so green and lush in Florida! But while there I also picked up the Reviewer’s Choice Award for Best Historical of the Year (the year being last year!) for To Taste Temptation. What a wonderful honor!
