Signs of Spring

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

img_0306Just this week the temperatures in my part of the Midwest suddenly soared into the sixties and even hit seventy at one point. My snowdrops were already showing, waiting patiently for the snow to melt, but the lavender species crocus (Crocus tommasinianus) popped up overnight it seemed. I’ve got a shade garden by the side of the house where I planted several hundred a couple of years ago and now it looks like a lavender carpet. The “Tommies” must be happy because I’ve noticed single volunteers peeking out of the grass here and there. Now if only the squirrels don’t eat the blooms!

In other news, my publisher, Grand Central Publishing, will be re-releasing the entire Prince trilogy this summer to coincide with the release of Wicked Intentions. They’ve also giving The Raven Prince, The Leopard Prince, and The Serpent Prince brand new covers which I’ve posted on their respective pages. Mouse over the new covers to see the original covers.

Lots and Lots of Books

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

So the Midwest just went through a nasty heat wave and in the midst of it I drove up to Romeoville outside of Chicago to go sign books at a really, really, really big warehouse. I signed for three hours in the morning and two and a half in the afternoon and by the time it was done I’d gone through twelve thin-line sharpies (assorted colors!), a box of 2,000 bookmarks (to put inside the books), and signed slightly under 3,000 books. After that I went back to my hotel room and collapsed. The books I signed (they were pulled ahead of time so I didn’t pick the titles) were The Serpent Prince, To Beguile a Beast, and To Seduce a Sinner. If you live in the USA, you should start seeing these signed copies in big box stores such as Target, Meijer, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart (to name only a few.)

Meanwhile, the link I posted a couple of weeks ago to a free online copy of The Leopard Prince isn’t active yet. I’ll let you know here when it is.

Finally, the RWA Readers for Life Literacy Autographing is coming up in Washington, D.C. There is no admittance charge and over 500 romance authors will be attending to sign their books. Here are the details:

Website Updates and News

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The thunderstorms have been almost constant here in the Midwest, making for a very wet June. The good news, though, is that my garden is very lush from all the rain!

I’m pleased to announce that To Taste Temptation has won the Desert Rose Golden Quill Award.

Website updates for June have been made, the main ones being that Chapter 6 of The Ice Princess is up. I’ve also got new bookmarks for To Desire a Devil, and the second scene excerpt for To Desire a Devil is up as well. As always bookmarks and bookplates are free, so be sure and order as many as you’d like.

There’s still time to enter my May/June website contest–the prize is a complete Princes trilogy!

The Romance Writers of America national conference is coming up soon–this year it will be in Washington D.C. Part of the conference is a massive romance author signing on Wednesday, July 15th from 5:30-7:30 pm. This signing is open to the public–you don’t have to be registered at the conference–and will include more than 500 romance authors this year. All proceeds from the signing go to local literacy charities. If you live in the D.C. area, this is a signing you won’t want to miss–and if you do come, make sure and stop by and say hello to me!

Finally, my publisher, Hachette Book Group USA, is offering The Leopard Prince to read online for free!

Fairy Tales and Auctions

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Happy May Day! I was once fortunate enough to enjoy May Day in Oxford, England (I believe I grumbled when my mother pulled me out of bed early to see the Morris dancers–teenagers are never grateful.)

Unfortunately here in central Illinois it’s gray and damp today. Still too wet to weed (well, without making a muddy mess anyway) and rather chilly too. Brrr! Just as well that I need to stay inside and write.

Today I’m blogging at Grand Central Cafe about fairy tales and To Beguile a Beast.

Also today is the start of Brenda Novak’s Online Auction for Diabetes Research. This is a lovely chance for readers to buy autographed books–and arcs!–from their favorite authors and benefit a good cause too. Here are some of the items I’ve donated:

an autographed arc of To Desire a Devil

an autographed Princes trilogy

the first three books of The Legend of the Four Soldiers series

autographed copies of my Julia Harper books: Hot and For the Love of Pete
