 I spent last weekend putting together four raised vegetable beds made from cedar wood, although I’ve only filled one so far with soil. We planted tomatoes–yellow pear and brandywine–and carrots and multi-colored swiss chard. And then it rained the rest of the weekend and early this week and the entire backyard flooded! I’m so glad I decided on raised beds.
There’s only a little over a month left until the release of Wicked Intentions, the first book in my Maiden Lane series. I’ve posted the video for Wicked Intentions, along with a new research article, St. Giles and the Gin Craze on the Extras page. I’m giving away my very last arc of Wicked Intentions in my website contest along with a gift card for Barnes and Noble bookstores.  So it’s three days before Halloween and once again the Hoyt Household has eaten all the candy I bought to give out to cute kids in costumes. Sigh. I’m going to have to go to the store to buy more candy and there won’t be anything left but those icky peanut butter chew things in black and orange waxpaper wrappers. (I used to try and trade them to my younger brother for Snickers bars. He never fell for it.) Poor cute kids in costumes!

 I’m back home after two weeks in beautiful D.C., first at the RWA national conference and then spending some time in our nation’s capital. I had a wonderful time at the National Art Gallery, dragging my Offspring to see Rembrandts and Vermeers and lecturing them about Boobies Through History. (They were suitably embarrassed.)
The Untrained Dogs had a vacation of their own (although they may not have seen it that way) at their doggie kennel. I think they’re glad to be home, though, and back to their ultra-soft dog beds.
Chapter 7 of The Ice Princess is up, but be warned: this chapter is for adult eyes only! Please do not read this chapter if you are under eighteen years of age.
I’ve posted the third scene excerpt of Chapter 1 from To Desire a Devil. This scene was not included in the excerpt at the back of To Beguile a Beast. I hope you enjoy it!
